Jeremy Gilley
Jeremy Gilley is a multi-award winning film maker and the Founder of the NGO, Peace One Day.
In September 2001, as a result of Jeremy’s efforts, a General Assembly resolution was unanimously adopted by United Nations member states, formally establishing 21 September as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace — Peace Day.
Jeremy has successfully partnered with Coca-Cola to create a Peace One Day Can of Coca-Cola, making POD one of the few brands in history to share the side of the Coke Can. He has also secured partnerships with major brands such as Puma, Ben and Jerry’s, Skype and British Airways to help institutionalise the day.
Under Jeremy’s leadership, Peace One Day’s overarching objectives are to institutionalise Peace Day throughout the world, making it a day that is self-sustaining, and to engage all sectors of society in the peaceful observance of 21 September in accordance with the UN resolution. As a result of the day, millions of lives have already been saved due to immunisation programs and of course the observance of non-violence.

About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a programme called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
Our event is called TEDxNewSt, where x = independently organised TED event. At our TEDxNewSt event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.
